Beyonce & Jay-Z welcome Blue Ivy Carter to the world!

Posted on: January 9, 2012

I’ve been kind of putting this off because I’m not too happy with the superstar couple after what they did in the hospital. I’m sorry, but it’s my personal opinion, and if they wanted THAT much privacy they should have given birth in the privacy of their own home. It’s selfish of them to do what they did & just because they’re celebrities doesn’t mean they should overstep others’ parental rights. They kept a father from seeing his premature twins in the NICU! But anyway, this is a NAME blog.. so here goes..

Superstar couple Beyonce & Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter) welcomed their daughter BLUE IVY CARTER on January 7th.

Conspiracy theorists drew a connection between Blue Ivy and “Eulb Yvi”, claiming it was Latin for Lucifer’s daughter, and that went nuts on Twitter. The Examiner said that that was wrong by stating that the Bible makes no mention of Lucifer having a daughter and that there’s no match to Eulb Yvi in the Latin dictionary.

Good Morning America suggested that Ivy is a play on the Roman numeral IV. The number four is significant to the power couple — they married on April 4th, (4/4), both of their birthdays are on the 4th (September and December), and Beyonce’s fourth studio album was called “4.”

According to International Business Times, they used Blue because it’s Jay-Z’s favorite color other say it’s inspired by his albums The Blueprint and The Blueprint2

The power couple say “Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven,” Beyonce and Jay-Z explain. “She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Now, what do I personally think?

I think that while the name isn’t as crazy as some celebs name their babies (ex: Fifi-Trixibelle) it definitely isn’t as the best celeb baby name out there! I personally dislike Blue, I don’t think you should use colors as names and it makes the whole combo sound like a perfume. I adore the name Ivy and I think it is extremely feminine, beautiful, elegant & classy not to mention old fashioned. I’m thinking once their daughter is old enough to choose, she’ll end up going by her middle name.

What do you think of their daughter’s name? 🙂

Personally I’m not super fond of it. It sounds like they were naming a new species of plant not their daughter. I suppose I shouldn’t be complaining when you compare “Blue Ivy” to celeb baby names like “Moon Unit,” but it’s still not my absolute favorite. At least she has a nice middle name to go by.

Celebrities annoy me at the best of times, but when it comes to naming their children I really can’t stand them. They seem to forget that this is a real person they’re naming and not something to get themselves more attention. Oh well, what can you do. I’ll quit ranting ^.^

Not a fan of it. Ivy Blue would have been so much, but, hey, it’s not my child.

I did a little video for blue ivy. But have to say I’m not a huge fan. How will she be greeted when she’s older?
Hi Blue Ivy – its not really a name is it?
