The MOST HATED baby names?!

Posted on: August 5, 2011

So we can assume that Nevaeh and Bentley were on there. If people ask about those names, people will automatically say they’re very trashy. But you’ll be surprised to find out that there are some names on the list that *everybody* seems to love 😉

  1. Nevaeh (“Heaven” spelled backward and one of the most divisive names around, according to Wattenberg.)
  2. Destiny (People dislike names that confer a virtue onto a child, Wattenberg said — and many felt associated this name with exotic dancers.)
  3. Madison
  4. Mackenzie
  5. McKenna
  6. Addison (An example of a masculine named turned feminine, which many people dislike, Wattenberg said)
  7. Gertrude (People said this name is “ugly.”)
  8. Kaitlyn (For its “made-up” spelling.)
  9. Makayla
  10. Bertha
  11. Hope

  1. Jayden
  2. Brayden
  3. Aiden
  4. Kaden (These rhyming names struck many as overdone, Wattenberg reported.)
  5. Hunter (Too much like a last name or “too violent.”)
  6. Hayden
  7. Bentley (People dislike brand-name names, Wattenberg found, calling them “trashy”)
  8. Tristan
  9. Michael (Too boring, according to some.)
  10. Jackson
From that list, I dislike:
○ Girls:
Nevaeh (it’s just banal, not very original, madeup, and trashy)
Destiny (reminds me of an exotic dancer, and it’s just “too much”)
Madison (masculine.)
Mackenzie (masculine.)
McKenna (masculine.)
Addison (masculine.)
Gertrude (though I think it’s much better than other names mentioned, it has bad connotations for me.)
Kaitlyn (I’m not one for alternate spellings. I prefer Caitlin)
Makayla (See Kaitlyn. I prefer Michaela)
Bertha (again, it’s like Gertrude.)
Hope (See Destiny)So, I dislike all of the girl names! Pity.

○ Boys:
Jayden (though I like the biblical Jadon)
Brayden (though I like the gaelic Braden)
Kaden (though I like the gaelic Caden)
Hunter (Reminds me of blood and violence and nothing I want my child’s name to be like.)
Bentley (see Nevaeh)
Jackson (unless the father’s name is Jack)

Since you know I dislike all of the girl names, here are the boys names I DO like:

Aiden (Though I prefer the traditional Irish spelling Aodán or Aidan.)
Hayden (I don’t dislike surnames on the correct gender)
Tristan (I like the sound, it’s an alternative to Christian which I don’t like.)
Michael (it’s classic.)

Please do not be offended by MY opinion. You are free to post comments about which names you like/dislike. I am not trying to offend anyone 🙂
To see other opinions, I posted this list on Y!A.. without giving my opinion. Check it out!;_ylt=Apmt3fs3EIqjA_YeJ08CEsmvDH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20110805142337AAWwT04

For the girls, I seriously dislike:
♦ Nevaeh (it’s just a terrible name)
♦ Mackenzie (I dislike girls names with “Mack” in them)
♦ McKenna (“McK-” names annoy me; they remind me of McDonalds)
♦ Addison (it’s better on a boy, but I hate it either way)
♦ Gertrude (very, very ugly)
♦ Kaitlyn (I love Caitlin, but dislike the spelling Kaitlyn)
♦ Bertha (same as with Gertrude, although it is somewhat less ugly than Gertrude)

I sort of dislike:
♦ Madison (it’s not terrible, but I don’t love it)
♦ Destiny (I used to love this name, but I’m starting to dislike it)

I kind of like:
♦ Makayla (it’s fairly pretty, but not a top fav)

I love:
♦ Hope (it’s a gorgeous name in my opinion)

For the boys, I seriously dislike:
♦ Aiden (The most annoying of the “Aiden” trend, being Aiden itself)
♦ Bentley (This name has never appealed to me)
♦ Hayden (Very “Aiden” trendy; I really dislike it)
♦ Kaden (Same as with Hayden)

I sort of dislike:
♦ Jayden (Out of the Aiden trend names, this one is sort of cute, but it’s still a bit too trendy for me)
♦ Michael (I much prefer Michelangelo over Michael, though I probably wouldn’t use either)
♦ Jackson (This name doesn’t appeal to me, but it’s not terrible)

I kind of like:
♦ Hunter (I’m kind of fond of this name, but I don’t love it)

I love:
♦ Brayden (Out of all the Aiden trend names, this is the only one I really like. Of course, I do know a Brayden, so that’s probably influencing my opinion)
♦ Tristan (I LOVE this name, on a boy as Tristan or on a girl as Tristyn. It’s super cute and very fun)

I seem to dislike more girl names in this list than boy names ^.^

* Nevaeh: Really hate this name…
* Mackenzie: My niece’s middle, spelled Mckenzie…
* Mckenna: It’s nice, but I wouldn’t use it…
* Addison: My other niece’s name, spelled Adysen…
* Gertrude: Very ugly name…
* Kaitlyn: Love Kaitlyn, spelled Caitlin…
* Bertha: God no!!

* Madison: It’s ok, but I wouldn’t use it…
* Destiny: Real don’t like it, it’s trashy…
* Makayla: It’s cute, but like Mckenna, it would not be used…
* Hope: Love the name Hope, it’s so cute and sweet…

* Aiden: It’s overused…
* Bentley: Love the name Bentley…
* Hayden: Love Hayden!! It’s on my boy list…
* Kaden: So-So. I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it either…
* Jayden: Same as Kaden…
* Michael: Like ir, but wouldn’t use it, because I do have several uncles named Michael…
* Jackson: I love it!! It was on my list at one time…
* Hunter: It’s ok…
* Brayden: Same as Kaden and Jayden…
* Tristan: Love the name Tristan!! May use it, lol…
